Camp Eagle Ridge director, Dan Fritts, was the guest speaker at the Tuesday, May 26, 2014 meeting of the Downtown Optimist Club to bring the club up to date the latest activities at Camp Eagle Ridge. The biggest improvement has been the addition of two cabins that can be used for overnight stays by campers and staff.

Fritts brought the club up to date on previous projects and how Camp Eagle Ridge’s next big push will be to bring more city kids out to the camp to learn about themselves and help build their self-confidence. Activities the youth will participate in this year include their high-rope walk, zip line installation and newly stocked lake which will be used this summer for swimming and canoeing.

The Downtown Optimist Club presented Dan with a check for $2,000 to help offset the cost of building the cabins.

Camp Eagle Ridge is looking for adult and teenage volunteers for the camp this summer. If you would like to volunteer, you may call 601-480-5503 or visit the camp’s website.
