DTOC Pledges Support To Meridian Children’s Museum
On Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018, Downtown Optimist Club of Meridian President Lee Thaggard welcomed Liz Wilson, Director of the Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian, to give club members an overview of the progress being made on the building of the Meridian Children’s Museum. Liz provided members with plans of some of the exhibits as well as a computer generated fly-thru view of the projected building and surrounding property. The new museum will be located on 22nd Avenue in the old Sears location and construction will begin in 2019.
At the end of her presentation, President Thaggard and several other DTOC members gathered to present Liz with a donation of $1,000. The DTOC has pledged to give $1,000 each year for up to 10 years making their pledged donation amount $10,000. The DTOC is looking forward to working with the Meridian Children’s Museum to foster exciting learning opportunities for the youth of our community. The DTOC sees this as one more opportunity for the club to live up to their motto, “Friend Of Youth!”
