DTOC Donates To Scholarships For Hoops For Jesus – 2019

On Tuesday, March 5th, 2019, Ron Turner who is the Commissioner for Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church’s annual Hoops For Jesus Spring Break Scholarship Tournament spoke to the Downtown Optimist Club membership about the tournament and it’s impact on youth in our community.

Mount Olive has sponsored the Hoops For Jesus Tournament for the past 20 years. Turner explained that hosting the tournament was a great way to keep the kids involved during spring break, but it also give the church a great opportunity to minister to the youth while they are participating.

DTOC President Lee Thaggard presented Commissioner Ron Turner with a check for $250 to be used to fund scholarships for the event.
