DTOC Donation To MLT CenterStage Youth Program – 2014

In September 2014,The Downtown Optimist Club of Meridian renewed it’s support for the Meridian Little Theatre’s CenterStage Youth Workshop by presenting a check to Director Sidney Covington who came to our meeting to give us more information about the program and the results they are seeing in the children.

Meridian Little Theatre’s CenterStage Youth is geared to students who have completed first through sixth grades, the workshop offers students ideas and skills to use in developing their dramatic abilities. During the week, participants experience all aspects of live theatre: acting, singing, dancing and staging. Past experience is not required.

Sessions begin at 9:00 AM each day and end promptly at noon. The workshop is directed by Sidney Covington and Carol Sue Wiggins, with MLT Director Ronnie Miller serves as advisor.

While there is a tuition fee, donations such as the one made by the Downtown Optimist Club are used to provide scholarships to students who would otherwise not be able to afford the tuition.
