DTOC Donation To Care Lodge – 2020

On July 14th, 2020, DTOC President Kenneth P. Kercheval presented a donation to Executive Director Abby Miller and Director of Community Engagement Sara Smith of Care Lodge Shelter. The Downtown Optimist Club of Meridian has been an annual supporter of the children of Care Lodge for a very long time and is the club’s way of supporting the necessary work of assisting families dealing with the results of domestic violence.

Today, Care Lodge provides services for over 1,000 shelter and non-shelter clients each year. Care Lodge provides services to residents of 9 counties in East Mississippi and is the only certified domestic violence shelter in MS Highway Patrol District VI. Care Lodge offers a variety of comprehensive programs and services to victims of domestic violence in East Mississippi. All services to victims of domestic violence and their children are provided completely free of charge. Care Lodge is the only certified domestic violence shelter providing services for the following counties: Clarke, Kemper, Lauderdale, Leake, Neshoba, Noxubee, Scott and Winston.
